When is Duck Hunting Season in Texas?

Stay updated with Texas duck season and duck season dates in Texas to maximize your hunting trip in this prime waterfowl hunting zone. Duck hunting season typically runs from late November through late January.

Texas Duck Bag Limit

Overall Limit: 6 birds.

Here are the specific restrictions for different species:

- Mallards: up to 5 birds (but no more than 2 can be hens).
- Wood Ducks: up to 3 birds.
- Redheads: up to 2 birds.
- Canvasbacks: up to 2 birds.
- Scaup: 1 bird.
- Pintail: 1 bird.
- Dusky Ducks (this includes the mottled duck, Mexican-like duck, black duck and their hybrids): 1 bird.
Note: Hunting for Dusty Ducks is closed during the first five days of the season in each zone.

Any other species not explicitly listed: 6 birds.

Hunting License Information

All hunters booking with us must have a valid Texas duck hunting license and a migratory bird stamp. Keep your Hunter Education Cards handy!
